In May 2008, the millennium-old city of Marrakech in Morocco hosted META'08
& the NATO ARW on
“Metamaterials for Secure Information and Communication
Technologies”. The conference was held under the high
patronage of His Majesty Mohammed VI King of Morocco. The
participants concentrated for four days on the unexpected
characteristics and potential applications of metamaterials, plasmonics and other complex electromagnetic materials.
 A book containing a selection of papers presented at the conference was published by Springer.
